ANTIPOLO—Angelis Resort and Discovery Perlas set up an all-Filipino showdown in the quarterfinals of the Manila Hustle 3x3 following the results of the pool stages on Saturday at the Robinson's Magnolia Atrium in Quezon City.
Angelis sealed the top seed in Pool A after beating Korean club G2L2, 21-15, in the very first game of the pool stages before sneaking past fellow Filipino side Uratex Tibay, 18-16.
Discovery, on the other hand, fell to South Korea's 1Eyehansol, 15-17, but bounced back by beating the Shoot It Dragons of Thailand, 22-19.
Discovery then mauled Jumpshot of Singapore, 21-9, in the play-in game to set up the quarterfinal showdown against Angelis.
Meanwhile, Lady Macbeth and Army also made the quarterfinals by winning their play-in matches too.
Lady Macbeth beat Uratex Tibay, 21-14, in their wildcard match, while Army eliminated G2L2, 21-7, in another "pre-quarterfinal".
The Riots will take on the Dragons, while Army will face off with Owls.EXE in two more quarterfinal match-ups.
The other team representing Uratex, Uratex Dream, also missed the quarterfinals after bowing to 1Eyehansol, 15-19, in their own pre-quarterfinal, which means the two teams pegged to be the top favorites to win it all will not see action at all in Sunday's knockout matches.
The other quarterfinal game will see 1Eyehansol taking on Zoos Tokyo.
