MANILA—Antonio Hester put up dominant numbers similar to his stint with Zamboanga in the ABL as his PBA return ended in Magnolia's first Governors' Cup win, a 108-95 beating of Phoenix on Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

Hester led the Hotshots with 28 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, four steals, and one block even as they pulled away from the Fuel Masters with a 35-15 blast in the second quarter.

Mark Barroca added 19 points, three rebounds, four steals, and two steals off the bench, while Calvin Abueva chipped in 18 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists for Magnolia (1-3), which got a huge morale booster ahead of its pre-Valentine's Day "Manila Clasico" encounter with Ginebra on Sunday night at the said venue.

Jason Perkins led the now 1-5 Phoenix squad with 20 points, three rebounds, and three assists in a game where Du'Vaughn Maxwell was held to a PBA career-low 11 points, although he too had 10 rebounds, five assists, one steal, and one block.
