MANILA—The University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers got another prized recruit under returning head coach Alfredo “Pido” Jarencio.

Filipino-American forward Chase Lane has committed to the Growling Tigers and will play his lone season in the upcoming UAAP Season 86 tournament later this year.

Growling Tigers team manager Waiyip Chong confirmed to Dugout Philippines that the Tigers have been in talks with Lane for weeks now as the Fil-Am forward is also gaining interest from other UAAP and NCAA schools.

“He was one of the Filipino-American players we are eyeing this UAAP season. We are glad that he has agreed to play for UST,” Chong said.

The 6-foot-4 Lane is a 24-year-old former standout of US NCAA Division 1 school Tarleton State. He can play point guard, shooting guard, and small forward positions.

Lane is the third recruit of the Jarencio group aside from former Centro Escolar University Scorpions guard Franz Diaz and ex-San Sebastian Golden Stags center James Una.
