MANILA—Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots might have scored the most lopsided “Manila Clasico” win against Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, but netizens saw it as a giveaway win.

“Sagip Kapamilya” has trended over at Twitter account on Sunday evening following the Hotshots’ 118-88 conquest of the Gin Kings in front of around 11,212 fans at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

From a close 23-18 lead after the first quarter, the Hotshots went on a massive run in the second quarter behind inside hits by Antonio Hester and conversions from Paul Lee and Andy Mark Barroca for a 59-37 halftime lead.

The Gin Kings showed some life in the third quarter as they trimmed the deficit to 14 points behind Jamie Malonzo and Justin Brownlee but the Hotshots regained its offense behind Barroca, Calvin Abueva and Hester for its largest lead of 31 points.

Here are some of the tweets from Ginebra fans following the result.

According to PBA statistician Fidel Mangonon, the 30-point win by the Hotshots was the most lopsided “Manila Clasico” victory since July 11, 2003, when the Gin Kings prevailed, 112-78, in a qualifying game for the Invitational Conference then.

It was also Ginebra's biggest loss in four years, or since NorthPort began their 2019 Governors' Cup semifinal series with a 124-90 win.

On the other hand, it was Magnolia's second largest win this season with only a 118-87 rout of Rain Or Shine during the Philippine Cup the only victory that was more lopsided.
