Kath Arado stars as PLDT grounds Army in return to PVL action

MANILA—PLDT had a virtual workout coming off a long layoff as it walloped Army, 25-19, 25-12, 25-21, in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference on Thursday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

Kath Arado produced 33 excellent digs and 14 excellent receptions to anchor the High Speed Hitters’ victory that came nine days after their opening-day loss to the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers last Feb. 7.

The Lady Troopers actually pulled to within, 17-18, in the third set and stayed within striking distance at 21-23, but Jovielyn Prado unloaded a kill and Rhea Dimaculangan delivered an ace to complete the straight-set romp.

The High Speed Hitters hammered out 42 attacks, 10 more than the Lady Troopers. PLDT also cashed in on the Lady Troopers’ miscues, scoring 24 points while yielding 15 of their own.

For the Lady Troopers, it was their second loss in a row after dropping a four-setter to the Chery Tiggo Crossovers last weekend.
