KBL: Ulsan holds SJ Belangel to just 2 in win at Daegu

MANILA—RJ Abarrientos and the Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus prevailed over SJ Belangel and the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus with an 84-77 win in the 2022-2023 Korean Basketball League season on Thursday night at the Daegu Gymnasium.

Abarrientos, a former Far Eastern University Tamaraws standout, managed nine points, including two three-pointers, to go with two assists and two steals as the Phoebus moved up to a 25-17 win-loss slate.

Belangel, on the other hand, was held to just two points to go with three rebounds, two assists, and a steal in 14 minutes of action as the Pegasus stayed in ninth place with a 13-28 record.

Gaige Prim tallied a double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds to lead the winning Phoebus, Seo Myeong-Jin added 11 markers, while  Jang Jae-Suk and Shin Min-Seok contributed 10 points each.

Murphy Holloway top-scored for the Pegasus with 19 points, Lee Dae-Sung and Shin Seung-Min chipped in 18 and 11 markers, respectively, while former San Miguel Beermen import Devon Scott added 10 points.

In the other game, the SK-backed Knights edged the Samsung-bankrolled Thunders, 115-113, in the Battle of Seoul.

Jameel Warney exploded for 43 points with eight rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while Kim Seon-Hyung added 29 points, two rebounds, 13 assists, and one steal to lead the Knights, who also moved up to 25-17.

Kim Si-Rae made 23 points on 8-of-11 shooting including 4-for-5 on threes, two rebounds, five assists, and one steal, while Darral Willis chipped in 15 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists for the Thunders, who dropped to a league-worst 12-29 record.
