Magnolia goes fiery in 2nd half to take down NLEX

QUEZON CITY—Magnolia waxed hot in the second half to drub NLEX, 119-103, in their PBA Governors' Cup game on Thursday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

The Hotshots exploded for 39 points in the third quarter and—the defense-oriented team that they are—held the Road Warriors to just eight points in the first eight and a half minutes of the fourth to pull away.

Antonio Hester led Magnolia, which has now won three straight games after a 0-3 start, with 37 points, 15 rebounds, five assists, and one block.

Paul Lee added 18 points, four rebounds, and four assists, while Jio Jalalon came close to a triple-double with 17 points, 12 assists, and nine rebounds with two steals.

Mark Barroca and Aris Dionisio each added 13 points with the latter going 5-for-5 from the field for it.

Wayne Selden made 25 points, four rebounds, and nine assists, while Brandon Rosser put up 20 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks for NLEX, which has now lost back-to-back games after a 4-0 start.
