PASAY—NBA Philippines has forged a new partnership with food delivery app Foodpanda just in time for the NBA All-Star Weekend.

The alliance was formalized on Saturday with the launch of the "Ball Like a Panda" campaign at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall here.

"Foodpanda is the newest addition to the list of our marketing partners here in the Philippines," said Mae Dichupa, NBA Philippines' senior director for global marketing partnerships.

On why the NBA-Foodpanda partnership is known as "Ball Like a Panda", Lorelei Olalia, Foodpanda Philippines' head of integrated marketing communications, explained, "We know the Filipinos love basketball, and we know that it matters to them. Foodpanda is known about what matters to you now."

She added, "We wanted to make sure that we partner up with the best association in basketball."

Both Dichupa and Olalia also liked the timing of their partnership as the mid-season classic is ongoing in Salt Lake City.

"The All-Star Weekend is happening right now in Utah, and obviously, the NBA-Foodpanda partnership launch is nicely timed toward an exciting weekend for the NBA fans," Dichupa said.

"It's very timely that we launched today 'coz we want to make sure that Foodpanda customers will have a chance to watch the NBA All-Stars with us as well," Olalia added.

She then revealed that Foodpanda will host an NBA All-Star Game watch party on Monday at the Quezon City branch of the Tipsy Pig Gastropub along Timog Avenue.

"We'll give definitely the customers a chance to have like 'free meals on us', etc., so we'll watch it all together," Olalia said.

To gain entry, NBA fans must show that they have the Foodpanda app installed on their phones or tablets.

While Olalia did not disclose how long the partnership will last, Dichupa assured that it will continue beyond the All-Star Weekend.

"Beyond the All-Stars, Foodpanda and the NBA are excited to partner to deliver exciting experiences to NBA fans. It's an exciting combination of watching the games and your favorite players and teams live at home and ordering your favorite snacks from Foodpanda, so I'm very confident that with this partnership, we can bring the NBA experience to more Filipino homes," she further said.

Olalia added, "Definitely, we're working on making sure that there are a lot of interesting and exciting promos, campaigns, events, etc."

Regarding the said promotions, Dichupa said that NBA fans should wait for further announcements very soon.
