Q4 comeback steers Meralco past Magnolia

SAN PEDRO—Meralco turned the tides in the fourth quarter to pip Magnolia, 86-84, in a crucial PBA Governors' Cup game on Sunday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

In a battle between teams still chasing for a Top 4 finish in the eliminations, the Bolts outscored the Hotshots, 23-13, in the fourth quarter even as clutch free throws from KJ McDaniels clinched the game for the former.

McDaniels finished with 19 points, 15 rebounds, one assist, two steals, and one block for Meralco, which broke a tie with Magnolia and moved up to 5-3.

Chris Newsome added 16 points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Antonio Hester led the Hotshots, who saw their four-game winning streak snapped, with 23 points, 15 rebounds, and three assists.
