MANILA—The "Samahang Walang Katulad" between the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers and the San Miguel Corporation is now on.
The partnership was formalized on Monday when SMC sports head Alfrancis Chua was named as UST's special assistant to the rector for basketball as first reported by the school's official publication, The Varsitarian.
The partnership was a huge boost to the Growling Tigers campaign after a forgetful 1-13 record in UAAP Season 85.
Rumors of the partnership resurfaced on Monday afternoon after Growling Tigers assistant coach Jaren Jarencio posted on his Instagram story a picture of Chua's UST nameplate.
Chua was not able to attend UST's welcome meeting for the new Growling Tigers coaching staff as he was at the PBA Esports Draft.
