PASIG—Allein Maliksi will not see action for Meralco in its crucial PBA Governors' Cup game against Phoenix as he has been suspended for his actions late in the Bolts' Friday night game against the Converge FiberXers.

The league sanctioned Maliksi for apparently choking Barkley Eboña in response to the latter's hard foul with 6.9 seconds left in the overtime thriller won by Meralco.

Apart from his one-game ban, Maliksi will also have to pay PHP75,000 as a fine.

Maliksi, who has emerged as the Bolts' secondary scoring option in recent games after KJ McDaniels, will be dearly missed as they make one last march to a possible twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals against the Fuel Masters, who look to finally seal their place in the Final 8.

Eboña was not spared from having to pay up some cash as he has been slapped with a PHP5,000 for his foul, which was declared a flagrant foul penalty 1.

Deputy commissioner Eric Castro, who met both players on Saturday at the PBA office in Quezon City, warned Eboña that a repeat offense of his hard foul, which Maliksi claimed was a punch, would mean a bigger fine.

Converge will face Ginebra also on Sunday night with the winner possibly sealing its Top 4 finish.
