MANILA—The Creamline Cool Smashers are back to a familiar territory after a 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 victory over the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers in Game 2 of the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All Filipino Conference semifinals on Tuesday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

It was the fifth consecutive All-Filipino Conference finals appearance for the defending champions Cool Smashers and they will face the winner of Petro Gazz Angels-PLDT High Speed Hitters series in the finale.

Tots Carlos topscored for the Cool Smashers with 19 points, Michele Gumabao unloaded 12 hits, and Jema Galanza and Celine Domingo added 11 markers apiece in the series clinching win.

Carlos helped key Creamline’s fightback in the second set then Galanza took over after the rotation, hammering out back-to-back hits to shatter the 23-all count, converting the last on her third attempt after her first two blasts rammed into the Cargo Movers’ solid net defense.

Then it was all-Creamline show in the third as the Cool Smashers raced to a 14-8 bubble and never looked back with the Cargo Movers failing to recover from that stinging second set stumble.

“We’re so overwhelmed and really grateful for this win,” said Cool Smashers setter Julia Morado-de Guzman, who was hailed as the Player of the Game with 23 excellent sets. “We missed the finals in the last conference but everybody was ready to step up.”

Kianna Dy unleashed an 11-point game but Myla Pablo failed to hit double-digit and settled for a nine-point output while Ara Galang and Ivy Lacsina added six points each for the Cargo Movers.
