MANILA—Cignal kept its slim semifinal hopes in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference alive with a 25-14, 25-11, 19-25, 17-25, 15-11 win over Choco Mucho on Thursday night at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.

The HD Spikers built a four-point cushion from a variety of hits and a miscue from the Flying Titans in the fifth then withstood their rivals' one last push behind Rachel Anne Daquis to snap their losing skid.

Daquis and Ces Molina ended up with 17 points apiece with the former clinching the game’s top honors with three blocks and 10 excellent digs for HD Spikers, which remained in seventh place with a 2-4 win-loss slate.

Glaudine Troncoso and Roselyn Doria matched 15-point outputs and middle blocker Marivic Meneses added 10 markers in a balanced offense, which was missing in Cignal’s previous games.

“Lagi namin nire-remind sa team na gusto namin ito. Talagang nag-work kami as a team. Pinagsama namin lahat ng talent naming at nandun yung eagerness na makabalik kami,” said Daquis.

Isa Molde and Kat Tolentino shared scoring honors for Choco Mucho with 17 points apiece while Desiree Cheng added 14 markers. They slumped to a 2-3 win-loss slate for sixth place.
