CARMONA—Rondae Hollis-Jefferson made up for his endgame mishaps in Game 2 of the PBA Governors' Cup semifinals as he came alive in Game 3 to lead TNT to a 99-80 rout of Meralco at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Hollis-Jefferson, who missed two clutch free throws in regulation on Sunday night that could have given the Tropang Giga the win already, bounced back on Wednesday night with a 40-point explosion on top of 13 rebounds, two assists, and one steal even as they quickly clobbered the Bolts by racing to a 56-30 halftime lead.

Meralco found its offense going in the third quarter, but TNT kept its huge lead in the end.

Mikey Williams added 29 points, one rebound, and three assists for the Tropang Giga, who are now up, 2-1, in the best-of-five series.

They can set a finals date with Barangay Ginebra as early as Friday night if they take Game 4 also at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

KJ McDaniels had 30 points, 10 rebounds, and four blocks, while Aaron Black and Cliff Hodge each tallied 11 markers with Black also grabbing 11 boards for the Bolts, who are now on the brink of missing the Governors' Cup finals after making four times out of the last five editions.
