TNT denies NorthPort shot at QF berth behind explosive middle quarters

MANILA—TNT doused cold water on NorthPort's last hope for a PBA Governors' Cup quarterfinal spot with a 134-110 win in their crucial encounter Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig.

The Tropang Giga turned things around in the second and third quarters, outscoring the Batang Pier, 90-42, as the former surged ahead, 109-69, after trailing, 19-27, after the first.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson returned to TNT after missing the EASL Champions Week and led the team with 31 points, 11 rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

RR Pogoy added 22 points on 8-for-11 shooting including 6-of-8 on threes, seven rebounds, three, and two steals as his team is now nearing the top seed entering the quarterfinals at 9-1.

Kevin Murphy made 35 points, 10 rebounds, three assists, and one steal for NorthPort, which will miss the playoffs after dropping to 3-8.

The win officially gives Phoenix the last quarterfinal berth as the eighth seed.
