MANILA - The Philippine Women's national football confirmed their procedural advancement to the Round 2 of the Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament after their comfortable 4-0 victory vs. Hong Kong, Tuesday afternoon at Hisor Central Stadium at Tajikistan.
The Women's World Cup debutant will joining the first round group winners Uzbekistan, Iran, Vietnam, Thailand, Chinese Taipei, and India, and the waiting powerhouse teams like Japan, South Korea, Australia, China, and North Korea.
The second round of Olympic Qualifiers will commence this October.
The Filipinas topped the Group E of the tournament in a flawless fashion after converting 16 goals throughout the first round of qualifiers.
The goal fest started early with Sarina Bolden through an easy win foot race with the Hong Kong defender in the 8th minute mark and she doubled lead at the 41st minute, thanks to the fine lob dime from Sara Eggesvik.
The forward of Western Sydney Wanderers ended the tournament with three goals of which added already to register her 20th international goal as Filipinas.
Meryll Serrano showed her creativity in the set-piece as she contributed for the third goal through free-kick in the 44th minute.
Finally, Quinley Quezada scored the fourth goal for the Philippines through perfect drive in the 53rd minute to conclude her campaign in the tournament with two goals.
Next assignment for the Filipinas will be the Southeast Asian Games starting May 3.
