QUEZON CITY—Gilas Pilipinas gets to test the mettle of Karl Anthony Towns and the rest of the Dominican Republic as they were grouped together following the group draw on Saturday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Gilas and the Dominican Republic will headline Group A with Angola and Italy also joining them.

All the games of Group A will be played at "The Big Dome" except for the tournament opening doubleheader on Aug. 25, which will be played at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue.

Meanwhile, all eyes will be on a huge showdown between USA and Greece at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay as they ended up in Group C together with Jordan and New Zealand.

On the other hand, reigning NBA MVP Nikola Jokic and rising star Domantas Sabonis will also see action in the Philippines for their respective national teams.

Jokic and Serbia will play South Sudan, China, and Puerto Rico in Group B also to be disputed at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, while Sabonis and Lithuania join Egypt, Mexico, and Montenegro in Group D at the MOA Arena.

Meanwhile, Japan finds itself in a potential "group of death" as it joins Germany, Finland, and Australia in Group E, while Slovenia, Cape Verde, Georgia, and Venezuela make up Group F, both happening at the Okinawa Arena.

Indonesia will host Group G, consisting of Iran, Spain, Ivory Coast, and Brazil, and Group H, making up of Canada, Latvia, Lebanon, and France.
