SAN JUAN, MM—Bacoor City continued its early dominance in the MPBL after downing Sarangani, 85-70, on Monday night at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
Save for the Marlins' solid second quarter, the Strikers banked on their defense to win their Southern Division battle.
Bacoor City took control of the first quarter and finished the period ahead, 25-16, but Sarangani bounced back in the second with a 26-point performance to cut the lead down to four, 46-42, at halftime.
The Strikers then held the Marlins to only 11 third-quarter points, and they pulled away for good.
Jhan Nermal led Bacoor City, which moved up to 4-0 for the season, with 22 points, nine rebounds, and one assist, while Alwin Alday added 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Jeff Viernes put up 13 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two steals for Sarangani, which fell to 2-2.
