MANILA—At least for one night, Cavite's basketball supremacy belongs to Bacoor City.
The Strikers successfully defended their home floor after edging the Imus SV Squad, 60-52, in their MPBL battle on Monday night at the jampacked STRIKE Gym.
In the first "Battle of Cavite" since 2019, Bacoor City played superb defense on Imus, bannered by former PBA superstars, keeping them to the low 10's in each of the four quarters while stepping up on offense in the second and the third quarters after only making six points in the first.
James Kwekuteye led the Strikers, who moved up to 8-1, with 17 points, five rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block.
Jimboy Pasturan added 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting including four triples, one rebound, and one assist off the bench.
Jaymar Gimpayan led the SV Squad, who fell to 3-5, with 12 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block.
Marc Pingris and Mac-Mac Cardona each added 11 markers with Pingris capping a monster game with 14 rebounds, five blocks, and one assist.
