MANILA—NLEX shored up its frontline as it looks to continue moving on from JR Quiñahan by trading for Ben Adamos.
The PBA trade committee approved a trade sending Adamos to the Road Warriors from the Phoenix Fuel Masters.
Phoenix, in exchange, acquired Tzaddy Rangel and Reden Celda.
Both Rangel and Adamos were drafted in 2021.
Rangel, a former Gilas Pilipinas prospect, was selected third in the special Gilas round, while Adamos was taken sixth in the first round of the regular draft.
Rangel, however, was used sparingly during the past two regular seasons and only got some playing time during the ongoing PBA on Tour, averaging 2.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 0.5 assists in nearly 10 and a half minutes per game.
Celda, on the other hand, rejoined the PBA through the NLEX franchise after spending some time with Zamboanga in the MPBL.
He played 14 and a half minutes for the Road Warriors in their loss to the Rain Or Shine on Friday night, tallying four points and two rebounds.
Adamos, meanwhile, has yet to see action in the preseason event, but once he gets activated, he will reunite with coach Frankie Lim, who was his mentor when he was still playing college ball for Perpetual Help.
