ISAA 14 hoops: Blue Royals remain unblemished; WCC, Treston bounce back

By Ricky Manliguis

Defending champions La Consolacion College- Manila sustained their dominant form as it creamed the University of Asia and the Pacific, 94-51, to banner the action-packed Wednesday schedule of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) season 14 basketball tournament at the LCCM gym in Manila.

After a tight 41-32 halftime lead, the Blue Royals unleashed a 21-0 run in the third quarter and held on from there to keep its unbeaten record at 3-0.

The loss proved costly for the Dragons, as it stays at the cellar at 0-3.

In other senior games, WCC Aeronautical and Technological College and Treston International College pulled off wins over their respective rivals to get into the winning groove.

The Skyhawks vented its ire on the AirLink Blazing Phoenix, 84-77, to grab solo second at 2-1 and to ease the pain from a stinging 71-73 loss at the hands of ICCT Colleges last Sunday.

The Golden Lions upended the Philippine Women’s University (PWU) Patriots (1-2) in double overtime, 95-89, for an even 1-1 record.

In the lone juniors game, LCCM eked out an 81-79 win over AirLink.

Action will take a two-day rest before returning with a triple bill on Saturday at the Trinity University of Asia gym in Quezon City.
