ISAA 14 hoops weekend: La Consolacion, ICCT sustain winning runs

By Ricky Manliguis

La Consolacion Colleges and ICCT Colleges both kept their respective winning streaks intact to cap off weekend games of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA) Season 14 basketball tournaments at the Trinity University of Asia (TUA) gym in Quezon City.

The Blue Royals made it four wins out of four games on Saturday, as it humbled the WCC Aeronautical and Technological College, 77-68. The boys from Mendiola used their patented strong start while keeping the Skyhawks at bay for the majority of the second half to seal the win.

The Blue Dragons then stretched its win streak to three games after downing PWU, 89-74, on Sunday. The victory, the Cainta-based squad’s third in four outings, came at the heels of its masterful 92-50 annihilation of AirLink Saturday.

The Patriots have now lost three straight matches to fall to 1-3.

In other seniors match-ups on Sunday, WCC Skyhawks easily recovered from its loss to La Consolacion yesterday with an 80-56 demolition of the University of Asia and the Pacific for a 3-2 record.

Treston also won its second straight game, blasting AirLink, 84-73. The Golden Lions are now at 2-1, while the Blazing Phoenix suffered back-to-back setbacks for 1-3.

On the juniors side, La Consolacion Colleges Baby Royals scored back-to-back wins this weekend to stay atop the leaderboard with a 3-0 slate. They mangled the Treston Lion Cubs on Saturday, 63-37, before creaming the ALIAC Baby Phoenix, 88-64.

ISAA hoops action will shift to the UA&P gym in Pasig on Wednesday.
