La
Consolacion College Manila recorded their second win in a row, while ICCT
Colleges and Air Link International Aviation College (ALIAC) survived respective
rivals to highlight the second play day of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic
Association (ISAA) Season 14 basketball tournament Sunday at the Trinity University
of Asia gym in Quezon City.
The defending
champions Blue Royals continued their dominant form, this time making mincemeat
of the PWU Patriots, 72-47, for a 2-0 start in the 12-team competition.
ICCT
Colleges then banked on an alley-oop buzzer beater by Yuri Virtucio to escape
with a 73-71 nail-biter over the WCC Aeronautical and Technological College
Skyhawks.
Jeicel
Torres issued a perfect inbounds lob to the cutting Virtucio with less than a
second left in the game that gave the Blue Dragons the victory, enabling them
to tie their victims and PWU at an even 1-1 win-loss card.
ALIAC then got a winning start to their campaign, inflicting the University of Asia and the Pacific Dragons its second consecutive loss with a 71-69 overtime victory.
Action shifts to La Consolacion Colleges Manila gym on Wednesday, May 10. LCCM will gun for a third straight win against UA&P, followed by the match-up pitting WCC and ALIAC. ALIAC and LCCM then meet in the juniors division at 11:30 pm, before wrapping up with the PWU-Treston seniors game at 1pm.
