MANILA—Mike Nieto is moving to Converge.
The FiberXers acquired the six-foot-two swingman after a trade with the Rain Or Shine Elasto Painters was approved by the PBA trade committee on Monday.
In exchange, Converge got two future second round picks from ROS, one for Season 49 and another for Season 50.
The Season 49 Draft is scheduled next year, while the Season 50 Draft happens in 2025.
Nieto is the second player the FiberXers picked up in their retooling ahead of the PBA's 48th season, which kicks off with the preseason PBA on Tour series starting on May 21.
Interestingly enough, Nieto, like Adrian Wong, who was picked up in an earlier trade with Magnolia, came from Ateneo, new Converge team manager Jacob Lao's alma mater.
Nieto was selected as the fifth pick in the special Gilas round of the 2019 draft.
However, he missed much of the past season's Governors' Cup due to a knee injury.
