Philippine
Women’s University continued its hot form with a fifth straight victory, while
University of Asia and the Pacific scored a monumental upset in the women’s
side in the continuation of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA)
Season 14 volleyball competitions at the UA&P gym, June 1.
The
Patriots stamped its class anew, waylaying the hosts Dragons in another straight-sets
affair, 25-11, 25-11, 25-7, to move a win away from a double-round elimination
sweep while also giving the Dragons its second defeat in five outings.
The Lady
Dragons, on the other hand, recovered from losing the first set to pull the rug
from under ICCT Colleges, 20-25, 25-12, 25-21, 25-21, and bring the Lady Blue
Dragon’s four-game winning streak to a screeching halt.
In the
earlier matches, WCC ATC North Manila men’s and women’s teams added salt to the
wounds of Manila Adventist College with twin victories.
The Skyhawks
registered its second victory of the season, sweeping the MAC Soaring Angels,
25-18, 28-26, 25-17, in just an hour and 17 minutes.
On the
distaff side, WCC needed four sets to repulse the Lady Angels, 25-16, 25-27,
25-17, 25-16, and keep in step with UA&P for second place with a 3-2
win-loss card.
Both MAC
teams are still in the cellar at 0-5.
MAC will host the final elimination round
schedule on Tuesday, June 5. In the men’s division, PWU will end its
elimination campaign opposite MAC, while WCC tackles UA&P. While in the women’s
division, WCC and UA&P meet in a virtual battle for the #2 slot, even as ICCT
hopes to finish strong as it trades hits with MAC.
