PHNOM PENH - World champions Echo are now two series wins closer as they grabbed a 3-1 win against Malaysian champions Todak in the 2023 MLBB Southeast Asian Cup's quarterfinals inside the AEON Mall on Friday.
The Orcas take the first game, leading from start to finish as they secured their comfort picks, bannered by Karl Gabriel "KarlTzy" Nepomuceno's signature Lancelot with a 5/0/6 performance in the first game in a hybrid build.
The Swordfishes tied the series in Game 2 as Benedict "Bennyqt" Gonzales's damage were not enough to secure a backdoor, with his Wanwan being punished in the process by Muhammad "Yums" Suhairi and Muhamad "Rival" Kamarulzaman.
Bennyqt's Malaysian rival Muhammad "CikuGais" Fuad take the MVP nod with a 2/3/8 performance with his Claude.
The Filipino Cyclone redeemed himself in the third game as he and the rest of Echo mauled the Malaysians 19-4, with the gold laner dealing a 7/0/8 performance again with his Wanwan.
It was Alston "Sanji" Pabico's show in the match point as he led the Orcas in a dominant 18-1 showing, with the former's Valentina bossing the midlane with a 7/0/8 performance.
With the win, Echo moves on to the semifinals, where they will meet a familiar face in Kairi "Kairi" Rayosdelsol and the rest of ONIC Esports, who defeated compatriots EVOS Legends in the second game, three games to none.
