Philippine
Women’s University (PWU) completed a rare double-round sweep to cap off the elimination round of the Inter-Scholastic Athletic Association (ISAA)
Season 14 volleyball tournaments at the Manila Adventist College gym in Pasay
City Tuesday.
The
Patriots only needed 72 minutes to dispatch the hosts MAC Soaring Angels,
25-18, 25-15, 25-18, and finish the double-round preliminaries with an immaculate
6-0 win-loss card for the twice-to-beat incentive in the men’s finals.
The win
also booked a finals date with the WCC ATC Skyhawks, who got the first ticket to
the finale after tripping the University of Asia and the Pacific in the other men’s tussle, 27-25, 24-26, 25-21, 26-24.
Meanwhile, ICCT Colleges and UA&P both overpowered their respective opponents, en route to chalking up an intriguing match-up in the best-of-three women’s finals.
The Lady Blue Dragons had to stave off a tough customer in MAC Lady Angels, 25-15, 21-25, 25-18, 25-14, for its fifth victory in six games.
The Lady Dragons from Pasig, on the other hand, clipped the wings of the WCC Lady Skyhawks in straight sets, 25-23, 25-22, 26-24, to end its campaign in second place at 4-2.
ICCT is eager to avenge its four-set loss to UA&P on June 1 that snapped the Cainta-based squad's four-game unbeaten streak and derailed its chance for a twice-to-beat edge.
Both finals
games, together with the battle for third in both divisions, will be played on
Thursday, June 8, also at the MAC gym.
