NorthPort rides on Fran Yu show to stun Ginebra

MANILA—Fran Yu put on a lasting impression off the bench to lead NorthPort to a 101-95 victory over Ginebra in their PBA on Tour game at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum on Saturday night.

Yu went 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and led the Batang Pier in scoring with 21 points even as his teammates turned to their defense in the second quarter to stun the Gin Kings.

Down 17-32 after one, NorthPort held Ginebra to just nine points to take a 45-41 halftime lead before keeping them at bay in the second half.

Yu also had one rebound, eight assists, and one steal, while JM Calma and Paul Zamar each scored 16 markers for the Batang Pier.

Jeremiah Gray fired 26 points with 11 rebounds, three assists, and one block, John Pinto added 14 points, 10 rebounds, two assists, and one steal, and Aljon Mariano put up 10 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists for the Gin Kings.
