PASIG—Rashawn McCarthy got the last laugh over Justin Arana as Blackwater edged Converge, 102-97, in their PBA on Tour showdown on Wednesday night at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Arana may have had the better stats as he put up 32 points, but Rashawn McCarthy's 30 turned out to be enough to lift the Bossing past the FiberXers even as the Ever Bilena franchise played solid in the second half to hold off the league's new kid on the block.
McCarthy also put up five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block for Blackwater, while Rey Suerte and Baser Amer each added 12 markers.
Arana, on the other hand, had 17 rebounds, four assists, and three blocks to cap his monster outing for a depleted Converge club that even saw assistant coach McJour Luib finally making his PBA playing debut.
Luib made his one and only shot, a three-pointer, while he too had one rebound and three assists in eight minutes of play.
