Another game, another domination from Adeshokan Odou. AsiaBasket |
LAS PINAS–Adeshokan Odou’s early blast in the 2023 Bola.TV AsiaBasket Las Piñas Championship continued on Saturday night, and it bore fruit this time as Sanzar tallied its first win of the tournament by drubbing San Beda, 74-58, at the Villar Coliseum here.
Following up on his 20-20 outing against the Far Eastern University Tamaraws on Friday, Odou led the Fire Tigers with 32 points, 17 rebounds, and one steal, but this time they preyed on the Red Lions’ “Team Behold”.
San Beda actually had a solid first quarter defensively as it held Sanzar to just 11 points while taking a six-point advantage to the second quarter.
However, the Fire Tigers responded with a 27-point second quarter, and they took a 38-37 lead at halftime.
The game remained tight by the third quarter with Sanzar still up, 55-53, but the team showed its might in the fourth quarter by holding San Beda to just five points to pull away from there.
Ian Torres added 15 points, 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block, while Salomon Kone contributed 14 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and three steals for the Fire Tigers, who are now at 1-1 in Group B.
After going for 25 points on Friday night against Letran, Bryan Sajonia was held to just 12 points, but it was still enough to lead San Beda, now down to 0-2, in scoring. He too had four rebounds, one assist, and one block.
