MANILA—A crucial foul from John Apacible turned out to be the deciding moment for Blackwater as it escaped with a 103-101 win over San Miguel in their PBA on Tour game on Sunday night at the FilOil EcoOil Centre in San Juan City.

Apacible fouled Jvee Casio while taking a three with 22 seconds remaining, and Casio made all three free throws off the foul, which was ruled as a Flagrant Foul Penalty 1 for the landing spot rule, for a 102-101 lead by the Bossing.

Baser Amer missed on a jumper that could have extended the lead, but Jericho Cruz botched a floater that could have given the Beermen the win.

Amer made up for his dagger miss by making a free throw on the other end, and Rodney Brondial, with SMB out of timeouts, went for a desperation heave that failed to hit the target as clock ran zeroes.

Troy Rosario led Blackwater with 19 points on 7-for-7 shooting inside the arc, five rebounds, four assists, and one steal, while Casio, Amer, and Mike Digregorio each added 13 points.

Allyn Bulanadi led SMB with 26 points, six rebounds, three assists, and one steal, Cruz added 25 points, four rebounds, and four assists, and Brondial put up 10 points, 12 rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
