MANILA - Davao Aguilas-UMak started their Copa Paulino Alcantara campaign on a high note as they trip Adamson Soaring Falcons 2-0 inside the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Sunday.

Both teams struggled with their attack as despite penetrating the defense line, as they both fail to convert opportunities into goals in the first half.

It was all deadlock until the 58th minute when Kart Talaroc attempted a long shot that was closely deflected by Adamson keeper Andrew Nalog, but the ball went into Cameroonian Serge Kaole who puts the second shot into a goal for Davao.

Talaroc got the ball again in the78th minute to find Kaole who set the ball to Rendon Cielo to put the Aguilas for a comfortable two-goal lead over the Soaring Falcons.

The University of Makati-enhanced squad didn't look back as their backline held on despite Adamson's attempt at a comeback in the dying minutes of the match.

Davao's manager Aber Ruzgal spoke highly of the San Marcelino-based team.

"Even we won on paper, we were more senior than them, Adamson really worked hard. They got us in the first half, and we have to adjust during halftime for us to survive the second half," said Ruzgal.

The opponent wasn't easy, but we have shown our experience in the PFL," Kaole shared. "They gave us a hard time but luckily we were able to score and make it easy for the rest of the game.

Both teams will next see Tuloy FC, as Davao will try to make it two on July 23, while Adamson will face them on the 29th.
