MANILA—Gilas Pilipinas scored a 70-61 win against Ukraine's under-20 team in a tune-up game early Sunday (Philippine Time) at the Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania.

However, for coach Chot Reyes, the outcome was not reflective of how the all-pro squad limited their younger opponent in the game.

"To be very honest, although we won this game, I still think that there were a lot of defensive lapses," Reyes said in an interview with One Sports' Carlo Pamintuan.

Reyes even believes that Gilas won in an ironic manner.

"If I were to rate it, I think this is the worst game that we've played since the start [of training]. I know that this is the game that we won, but I thought that there's a lot more to be desired," he further said.

Reyes, though, lauded his players for controlling their turnovers despite Scottie Thompson and Chris Newsome sitting out, playing better in the rebounding game, and executing the defensive patterns properly.

Thompson and Newsome took the day off due to their respective injuries.

A rematch is set later Sunday.
