LAS PINAS–The FEU Tamaraws remained undefeated in the Bola.TV AsiaBasket Las Piñas Championship after coming back from a slow start to beat the debuting Pilipinas Aguilas, 87-74, on Saturday at the Villar Coliseum here.

The Aguilas were in for a surprise as they seemed to have properly scouted the Tamaraws during their last outing against the Sanzar Fire Tigers.

The Aguilas took control of the first quarter and raced to a 27-11 lead with 2:10 remaining in the period before settling for a 29-16 advantage at the end of the quarter.

The Tamaraws, however, recovered in the second quarter and even took a 37-35 lead with three and a half minutes to play. The Aguilas closed out the second on an 8-1 run to reclaim the lead, 43-38, at halftime.

The game remained tight in the third quarter, but the Aguilas seemed to have closed the period strong with a 7-0 run to take a 63-59 lead with 40 seconds remaining in the third.

However, it was the Tamaraws who had the last laugh of the third quarter when Miguel Ona made two free throws and Cholo Anonuevo slotted in a layup to tie the game, 63-all, entering the fourth.

Both teams went at it in the first five minutes of the fourth, but the Tamaraws pulled away with a game-ending 13-0 run within the final five minutes.

Xyrus Torres once again starred for the Tamaraws, now 2-0 in Group B, with 21 points, nine rebounds, and three steals off the bench.

Patrick Sleat added 13 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and five steals off the bench, while Renzo Competente put up 12 points, two rebounds, and one assist.

Edrian Ramirez fired 29 points, nine rebounds, four assists, and one steal, while Eugene Toba added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Aguilas.
