MANILA—Gilas Pilipinas went 2-0 in its tune-up series against Ukraine's under-20 team with an 84-74 win on Sunday night at the Zalgirio Arena in Kaunas, Lithuania.
Gilas banked on a strong finish to the second quarter to repeat over Ukraine's young guns in their rematch.
Down 30-35 midway through the second, Gilas finished the quarter on a 15-7 run to take a 45-42 lead.
Gilas then showed its dominance in the second half to finish off the Ukranian lads.
Justin Brownlee led Gilas with 21 points on 8-of-13 shooting, eight rebounds, and one assist, while CJ Perez added 14 points on 6-for-9 field goals, four rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
