RIYADH - SIBOL's Mobile Legends team continue their IESF Asia-Pacific quest after dealing a 2-1 win over a pesky Mongolian team in the upper bracket finals Thursday at the Riyadh Boulevard.
The Philippines, fresh off a win against Cambodia, warded off the Mongolians in the first game with a 15-4 outing, drafting a more traditional five with captain Angelo Kyle "Pheww" Arcangel with the Lunox.
It was Michael Angelo "KyleTzy" Sayson's Hayabusa and Marco "Super Marco" Requitano's Claude who carried the game for the Filipinos with a 5/0/3 performance from the jungler and 4/0/4 for the gold laner.
The Lilgun-buffed squad had other ideas as they dominated the second game with a 16-2 stomping of Sibol from the get-go.
Forbid and AIZN became instrumental in SIBOL's first-ever loss as they executed a 5/0/5 and 5/0/3 performance with the Novaria and Terizla, mainly targeting Rowgen "Owgwen" Unigo's dreaded Angela pick.
Mongolia continued their Game 2 momentum in Game 3 as they went with a UBE-inspired lineup with Zxaura's Akai and Ethan's Estes leading the pack while David "FlapTzy" Canon went with a flex Fredrinn pick to go to the EXP lane.
It was all head-to-head against the Mongols until Ethan was taken down in a five-on-five clash by Super Marco for SIBOL to camp around the lord.
However, KyleTzy and Owgwen had other ideas as the Hayabusa and Grock went on to chase the three remaining Mongolian team members and have them engage in a teamfight, prompting Super Marco and FlapTzy to go straight to the exposed Mongolian base and finish the game.
The Philippines will wait for the winner of the lower bracket finals between Mongolia and Cambodia later tonight.
