MANILA--Filipino basketball fans finally got what they wanted on Friday (Philippine Time) as Kai Sotto finally got to play for Orlando in the NBA Summer League.
The seven-foot-three center was fielded at the start of the second quarter and eventually played for 13 and a half minutes for the Magic in their final Summer League game at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Despite the slow start, Sotto showed that he can compete at the next level, especially on the defensive end as he collected three blocks, including one against the Portland Trail Blazers' young gun Shaedon Sharpe.
Sotto also finished with six points, four rebounds, and one assist, although his Magic still came up short, 71-88.
Michael Devoe led Portland, who decided to give number three pick Scoot Henderson a rest, with 18 points, six rebounds, one assist, and two steals, while Sharpe and Jabari Walker each added 12 points with Walker also finishing with 10 rebounds.
Dexter Dennis led Orlando with 16 points, one rebound, one assist, two steals, and one block.
