Pampanga annihilates Bulacan, remains undefeated in MPBL

MANILA—The homecourt disadvantage did not matter for the Pampanga Giant Lanterns as they thwarted the host team Bulacan Kuyas, 121-88, in their MPBL battle on Thursday night at the Star Arena in Baliwag.

The start of the game promised an interesting match-up with both teams trading baskets.

However, Pampanga went away quickly after the first quarter using their run and gun style of play and imposing their presence on the paint.

Despite shooting only 2/9 from the arc, Pampanga were able to make up for it by attacking the basket. 102 of their total points were scored inside the paint, 50 of them were scored from fastbreak. On top of that they shot almost 60 percent (56/96) from the field.

Ronan Santos led the game for Giant Lanterns putting up 18 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists in his 23 mins. John Lloyd Clemente also chipped in 14 pts, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Meanwhile, Rhonz Yuzon’s 20 points came to a waste for Bulacan.

Pampanga is set to face-off one of the hottest teams in the South Division Batangas City Embassy Chill on July 13.
