San Juan draws close to MPBL season-high blowout, rips Laguna by 47

MANILA—San Juan flirted with the MPBL season record for the most lopsided win after edging Laguna by 47 points, 110-63, on Monday night at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

In the one-sided affair, the Knights quickly pulled away from the lowly Heroes and established their largest lead at 47 with 1:40 remaining.

San Juan had a chance to match the season record winning margin of 49 set by Batangas City against Valenzuela last March at the death, but Jeoff Javillonar lost the ball off a fastbreak attempt to David Santiago only for the latter to botch a floater that could have trimmed the lead a bit.

Orlan Wamar led the Knights, who moved up to 15-3, with 23 points on seven threes, six rebounds, four assists, and four steals.

AC Soberano added 18 points on six triples, one rebound, two assists, and one steal, while Adrian Nocum contributed 10 points, going perfect 4-for-4 on twos, four rebounds, 10 assists, three steals, and one block.

They are now a half-game behind the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards for second place in the North and 2.5 games behind the Pampanga Giant Lanterns for the top spot in the said division.

Jerome Garcia led the Heroes, who dropped to 3-16, with 14 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal.
