MANILA - It was a close affair between two former partners, but it was the seasoned boys who prevailed against the new kids on the scene.
Euphoria Esports secured their maiden victory in MLBB Developmental League - Philippines (MDL-PH) Season 2 against a familiar face in AP Bren Hornets on Wednesday.
It was the first match between these two sides since MDL-PH began, when Bren Esports teamed up with Euphoria for a joint 3rd-4th finish in Season 1.
It was a 20-minute affair in the first game, but it was the brilliance of Jimmy "Wayann" Padua in his Beatrix that carried the load for the Hornets in the kill department, including three in the last two minutes from the lord pit to the tower push.
MJ "Sh4rpp" Vasquez however was hailed with the MVP honors with a 4/2/6 performance with his Terizla, which endured the most damage out of any heroes in the first game and a third of all damage taken by the Hornets.
Euphoria refused to go down in the second game as they forced a rubber match with a 14-9 victory in 27 minutes of play in a comeback fashion, despite all three turtles in the early to mid game being secured by AP Bren Hornets.
It was the third lord dance that secured the upper hand for Euphoria courtesy of a clutch retribution from Vincent "Venogo" Orogo with his Lancelot assisted by a knock-off by the lord in the dying seconds.
From there, they never looked back with Venogo taking the MVP nod with a 7/3/4 KDA and Lilflesh “Zone” Miranda witha 2/0/5 performance with the Chou.
The third game went on a different mode as Euphoria quickly finished the series comeback in just over 11 minutes with an 11-6 outing against AP Bren.
Tommy "KingFrenzy" Tolentino's flex pick on a Joy jungle did not paid off, resulting in four deaths to his name including crucial pickoffs, mostly off from Zone's sets.
It was Christian Francis "Heads" Morada who took the MVP nod with two kills and three assists to his name, keeping Sh4rpp on the bay despite having an early game disadvantage in the laning phase.
Euphoria will try to make 2-0 to end Week 1 as they will take RRQ Kaito on Thursday, while AP Bren Hornets will also face RRQ on September 6 in quest for their first win.
