MANILA--Georgia outmatched Cape Verde under the lights of the Okinawa Arena in Japan with an 85-60 win on the second day of the FIBA World Cup 2023 on Saturday.

Georgia made an unbelievable 18-5 run with under 4 minutes remaining in the first quarter to put themselves ahead of Cape Verde; 20-13 despite struggling from the field early on.

Team Captain Tornike Shengalia led Georgia to victory, tallying 16 points, 7 rebounds, and an assist. Meanwhile, Goga Bitadze (Orlando Magic) and Alexander Mamukelashvili (San Antonio Spurs) also had a solid output in the game.

Bitadze scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while "Mamu" tallied 10 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists.

On the other hand, the former Cleveland Cavalier Edy Tavares of Cape Verde was limited to only 6 points in his 25 minutes of playing time.

Meanwhile, Brazil made quick work of Iran with a 100-59 rout at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.

Bruno Caboclo led Brazil with 16 points, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Yago Santos added 14 points, three rebounds, six assists, and one steal.

Matin Aghajanpour led Iran with 11 points, two rebounds, and one assist.
