MANILA—Gilas Pilipinas concluded its campaign in the Heyuan WUS International Basketball Tournament on a high note after whipping Iran, 63-48, in the final game of the event on Monday night at the Heyuan Sports Gymnasium in Guangzhou.
Just like Gilas' last game against Senegal, Iran suddenly fumbled in the end after weathering Gilas' first quarter barrage as the Filipino team once again made clutch threes to pull away.
Dwight Ramos led Gilas, which finished 3-1 in the tournament, with 17 points, going 6-for-6 on twos, 14 rebounds, three assists, and one block, while Jamie Malonzo added 11 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block.
Gilas is returning home on Tuesday even as they finally get to meet Jordan Clarkson ahead of their final preparations for the FIBA World Cup.
Amir Yazarlou led Iran with nine points, all on three-pointers, two rebounds, one steal, and one block.
