TAGUIG--Having an NBA player like Jordan Clarkson gives Gilas Pilipinas a huge boost for the FIBA World Cup, according to NBA champion coach Erik Spoelstra.
The Miami Heat head coach, who is part of Team USA's coaching staff, agrees that Clarkson is a game-changer for Gilas as they look to have a deep run in the FIBA World Cup in front of their home fans.
"He's definitely a big addition for sure without a doubt," Spoelstra said after he conducted a basketball clinic for young Filipino ballers at Kerry Sports Manila here on Wednesday.
He added that Clarkson just adds to the legacy Gilas has already built over the years.
"Fitting into what they've already done, you know, that's the most important thing, but having a proven guy definitely helps," Spoelstra further said.
Pending an official announcement from the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas, Clarkson is expected to crack Gilas' final 12-man lineup for the FIBA World Cup.
