MANILA--Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic displayed a magnificent performance, tallying a monstrous stat line of 37 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 steals, and a block to help Slovenia get their first victory in the 2023 FIBA World Cup at the expense of Venezuela, 100-85, on Saturday inside the Okinawa Arena in Japan.

Both teams shot efficiently from the field in the first half of the game making it still anyone's ball game as the 2nd quarter ended, 56-51, in favor of Slovenia.

However, the Venezuelans were caught sleeping in the third quarter, so the Slovenians quickly went away by shooting the lights out recording a 60 percent shooting from the field with an almost 40 percent shooting from behind the arc in the entirety of the game.

Slovenia was also far more active in the boards grabbing 39 total rebounds in the game as opposed to just 23 of Venezuela.

Meanwhile, aside from Luka, his teammate Mike Tobey also had a commendable showing in Japan courtesy of his perfect shooting tonight with 9-of-9 field goals, 6 of which were shot from the three while he also made all three of his free throws.

Slovenia hopes to get the top spot in Group F against Georgia on Monday at the same stadium.
