QC-Wilcon Depot just got its first 3x3 title in just three months of existence. Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3x3 |
STA. ROSA, Laguna--Wilcon Depot continues to make an early impression in the Philippine professional 3x3 basketball circuit by taking home the championship in the Chooks-To-Go Pilipinas 3x3 Quest on Saturday night at the Ayala Malls Solenad Activity Center here.
Just fresh from finishing its maiden stint in the PBA 3x3, Wilcon, representing Quezon City, won the championship match by beating Pasig-Banh Mi Kitchen, 19-15.
Spanish import Jose Blazquez and locals TH Tumalip and Yutien Andrada took flight for Quezon City-Wilcon, making up for Keith Datu, who was checked by Pasig-Banh Mi in the final.
Blazquez led QC-Wilcon, which won PHP100,000 and a seat in the FIBA 3x3 World Tour Cebu Masters, with nine points, Tumalip added six, and Andrada put up four.
QC-Wilcon became the second team that competes in the PBA 3x3 to enter a World Tour Masters event after Pasig-TNT made it to the Macau Masters.
Hamadou Laminou led Pasig-Banh Mi with five points, Louie Vigil added four, and Jean-Rony Cadot and Chris Dechavez each put up three.
Despite settling for the PHP30,000 runner-up prize, Pasig-Banh Mi still takes pride as they knocked out Manila Chooks, arguably the strongest team in the eight-team field, in the semifinals.
Pasig-Banh Mi rallied from 5-13 down to stun Manila Chooks, 21-14, and set a battle with QC-Wilcon, which turned back Makati-MNL Kingpin in the other semis affair.
After edging Makati for third place and a PHP20,000 cash pot, Manila Chooks still finished at the podium.
