QUEZON CITY--Spain opened its title defense in the FIBA World Cup in style, blasting Ivory Coast, 94-64, in the final game for Day 2 at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta.

The Spaniards stomped their dominance on the Ivorians, slowly but surely pulling away from them as the game went along en route to their third straight 30-point win to open their FIBA World Cup campaign.

Willy Hernangomez led Spain with a FIBA World Cup career-high 22 points, five rebounds, one assist, and one steal, while Usman Garuba added 12 points, seven rebounds, and one block.

Bazoumana Kone had 11 points, the most impressive FIBA World Cup debut for an Ivory Coast player this century, three assists, and one steal for the Ivorians.
