MANILA - Dynamic Herb Cebu FC and Stallion Laguna FC will have a busy fourth quarter as they determine their 2023-24 AFC Cup group stage opponents on Thursday
Both the Gentle Giants and the Stallions will debut to the continental competition after placing second and third, respectively, in the past season of the Philippines Football League.
The Talisay City-based club will face 2022 Australia Cup champions and fellow debutants Macarthur FC, 2022 Myanmar National League champions Shan United, and 2022 Cambodian Premier League champions Phnom Penh Crown, who qualified to the competition after taking down Laos league champs Young Elephants, and 2022 Singapore Premier League third placers Tampines Rovers in the preliminaries.
Meanwhile, the Biñan-based team was drawn in Group G alongside 2022 Malaysian Super League runners-up Terengganu, 2021-22 Liga 1 Indonesia champs Bali United, and 2022-23 A-League Men runners-up Central Coast Mariners.
It will be a long journey for both Filipino teams as they need to win their groups for a sure spot in the ASEAN Zone semifinals, with group stage matches running from September 18 to December 14 this year.
DH Cebu will first meet Phnom Penh Crown, while Stallion Lagune will see action first against Bali United on September 19.
