PASAY--Puerto Rico's campaign in the FIBA World Cup may be over already, but Chris Ortiz's stint in the Philippines is not yet done.
Blackwater signed the 30-year-old forward to be its import for the upcoming PBA Commissioner's Cup beginning on Oct. 15.
Ortiz actually stayed put in the country as the rest of the Puerto Rican contingent returned home on Monday and met the Bossing's team management on Tuesday.
Ortiz is listed at six-feet-eight, well within the six-foot-nine height limit for the season-opening conference, but he will still undergo an official height measurement by the PBA.
Puerto Rico missed out on making the FIBA World Cup quarterfinals after getting blown out by Italy in their Round of 16 affair at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on Sunday night.
In five games, Ortiz averaged 7.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 0.4 assists, and 0.2 steals in 17 minutes a night for Puerto Rico.
