MANILA--Germany handed Slovenia its first taste of defeat in the FIBA World Cup with a 100-71 win on Sunday at Okinawa Arena in Japan.
After a shooting slump in the first quarter, the Germans quickly went back on track in the second quarter to outscore Slovenia by halftime, 38-34, erasing the 14-point lead built by Doncic's squad in the first ten minutes of play.
Dennis Schroder fired 24 points with 10 assists and 2 rebounds while shooting a whopping 73 percent from the field to lead Germany, which sealed the top seed in Group K.
Meanwhile, Daniel Theis held the fort by making his inside presence felt, recording 14 points and 7 rebounds.
On the other hand, Luka Doncic's 23 points, 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals went to waste as Slovenia settled for second place in Group K.
