MANILA - The historic tale for the Filipinas never ends as they drew another monumental success in their Asiad debut through their win vs. Myanmar in magnificent 3-0 score last night at Wenzhou Sports Stadium, Wenzhou, China in the continuing 19th Asian Games.
Their game vs. the 2023 SEA Games silver medalist became crucial for the Filipinas for their mission to pass the group stage, as they need to score at least three or more goals to qualify as one of the Best Runners-Up.
However, the tables turned around as the other candidates for Best Runners-Up lost their matches, respectively, rendered for the Philippines to win this match regardless of how many goals made.
Sarina Bolden started the conquest as she converted the penalty after being fouled inside the box on the 19th minute. However, her two attempts within 52nd minute failed to convert.
So far, she registered 3 goals for this tournament including her stunning early lead goal in their defeat against South Korea.
Sara Eggesvik found herself in the list of the goal scorers of this Asian Games after he assailed the one touch finishing goal to make it 2-0 at the 59th minute, thanks to the feed from Bolden which sourced from the set piece by Jessica Cowart.
Luckily, Meryll Serrano became Eggesvik's reason for her second goal at the 61st minute. Serrano found Eggesvik on the run, passed the two defenders, with her lovely finish to triple the advantage for the red shirts, 3-0.
The Filipinas win last night is the latest addition for the team's national tactician Mark Torcaso to his credentials, as he brace himself to face the formidable defending champions, Japan for the Quarterfinals this Sept. 30.
